Health Testing

We believe every family deserves to know exactly what health testing has been done on their puppy's parents. Here is a full breakdown of our testing protocol.

All dogs in our breeding program undergo comprehensive health and genetic testing before being paired. We share results openly and are happy to provide documentation upon request.

OFA Hip Evaluation

Radiographs evaluated by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals to screen for hip dysplasia.

Requirement: OFA Good or Excellent required

OFA Elbow Evaluation

Radiographs evaluated for elbow dysplasia and related conditions.

Requirement: OFA Normal required

CAER Eye Examination

Annual eye examination by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist.

Requirement: CAER Clear required

vWD (von Willebrand Disease)

Genetic test for the most common inherited bleeding disorder in dogs.

Requirement: Clear or Carrier (never Affected)

Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)

Genetic test for a progressive neurological disease.

Requirement: Clear or Carrier (never Affected)

Neonatal Encephalopathy (NEwS)

Genetic test specific to Standard Poodles.

Requirement: Clear required

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (prcd-PRA)

Genetic test for a form of inherited blindness.

Requirement: Clear required

We are committed to staying current with recommended health testing protocols as they evolve. Additional tests may be added as new screening tools become available for the breed.
